Art Inspires Art

Table Tossings
Whimsical Chromacity
"Whimsical Chromacity" was a Photoshop creation of mine inspired by an in class project we were given at Emily Carr.   A table of various items were set before us and we were to draw it as real life with our 2b & 4b pencils, which I aptly named that piece "Table Tossings".  I'm rather pleased that art work inspired art in this case and I'm befuddled that it was my own, as I am my own worst critic.  But this time, I think it kinda worked!

Splendiferous Elephant

Splendiferous Elephant

African Inspiration
This African Elephant picture was an assignment that was given to me while at Emily Carr.  We were instructed to find a picture that inspired us and then to use a fine tip pen to indicate light and dark areas.  I chose this picture because I was inspired by the wornderful patterns that Africa has to offer.  I hope to do more in the future for this series.

Entangled Entities

Photo Inspiration
Pen & Ink~ Entangled Entities
Pen and Ink drawing (right), titled Entangled Entities, was inspired by this photo (left) I took that was just in my yard.  I seem to be drawn to trees of particular.  The way in which the roots twisted and traveled around the tree intrigued me, much like life and our choices.

Things that inspire.

What do you do to get inspired?  I often run amuck these days looking for something that will give me that extra little *umph* to a piece.  A sure fire way for me is to take a hike amongst the trees, creeks and rocks along a meandering path.  God's nature is brimming with new found hope everywhere and the breath of fresh air, freedom from life's pressures clear the mind and it opens myself up to new possibilities.  The endless asymmetrical designs are imperfectly perfect to draw from.  While I don't always have a camera, I'll take a snapshot in my head to file for ink's creations to emerge from.  Even if I haven't remembered the scene perfectly, I've taken the very essence of God's creation to draw from.
